Dr. Moncarz will be reviewing the reported reasons why local anaesthetic fails to always work reliably in endodontics. He will be discussing the contributions of accessory innervation and the infl uence of infection and of infl ammation on successful achievement of profound local anaesthesia. He will be discussing strategies to overcome anticipated diffi culties with anaesthesia including a review of adjunctive techniques, appropriate dosing of anaesthetic, and a recommended selection of specifi c local anaesthetics.

Dr. Andrew Moncarz
Dr. Andrew Moncarz received his DDS from the University of Toronto in 1999 and his Diploma in Dental Anesthesiology from the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City in 2001. He earned his Master’s in Endodontics from the University of Toronto in 2004. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Moncarz incorporates the use of sedation and general anaesthesia in his endodontic practice in Toronto. He is on staff at both Mount Sinai Hospital and at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto.
