The 21st century dentist, by virtue of their unique training and expertise are the most appropriate health care provider to diagnose and manage patients with Temporomandibular Disorders. TMD’s are ubiquitous. Every dental practitioner will encounter these frequently. This lecture will blend current dentofacial orthopedic and rheumatological concepts necessary to a modern approach to understanding, diagnosing and treating TMD. In this presentation, Dr. David J. Psutka will talk about:
Anatomy Physiology and Patho-physiology Classifi cation and Diagnosis of TMDs An approach to management of TMDs. The occlusion link will be discussed A brief overview of the current practice of TMJ Surgery

David J Psutka
|
Dr. David Psutka has practiced as a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Mississauga for 23 years. He is senior staff surgeon at the Mount Sinai Hospital TMJ Reconstructive Surgery Unit. He is also attending surgeon at Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Hospital in Mississauga.
He teaches implant, TMJ and orthognathic surgery in the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry postgraduate training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Implant Prosthodontic Unit. He has over 60 lectures and publications and has presented and taught across Canada, the US and Europe.
Dr. Psutka is an examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He is past president of the HPDA and OSOMS. He continues to work on the ODA Dental Services Committee, negotiating on behalf of dentists with the Ontario Ministry of Health over Hospital and Fee Guide issues. He received the ODA Service Award in 2005. |
